End-User Licence Agreement
Please review this legal agreement before you start to use the site.
Normally, this page is filled with lots of fine print legal language. Although we’re a language company, at Radio Lingua we don’t have a course in “legalese”, so we suspect that most of you would rather read this agreement in English instead of complicated legal language. With this in mind, our lawyer has written this licence agreement.
We’re delighted that you’ve decided to use our learning materials, after all your interest keeps us in business! However, we want you to be aware that when you access any materials on our site, you are actually only being given the right to download or stream parts of it for educational use, not to republish or repost it. The content contained on the site still belongs to us, or those third parties who have allowed us to make it available to you. By allowing you access to this material, we are "licensing" it to you. This is a lot like renting it forever: we still own it but you can use it all you want, but only for educational use. This means that we can put in place the following rules:
Each account on the Radio Lingua™ website includes a username and password. You are responsible for the security of this. You can choose to change your password if you like in the members’ admin area, but we strongly advise you to use a similarly strong password, and not use the same password as you use on any other site.
You can only use the material for educational purposes, so please don’t share purchased materials with other language learners. This is illegal. After all, we love languages, we love promoting language learning and we’ve put a huge amount of time and effort into making our courses what they are. Sometimes, some material will be subject to extra restrictions and this will be indicated clearly. You must observe these extra restrictions.
Unless specifically mentioned otherwise, you can present, quote, excerpt and annotate the material for educational purposes.
You may not link to any Radio Lingua audio content, video content or downloadable files without our express prior written permission. Please ask us if you would like to do this.
You may not remove or alter any copyright or ownership information, and must clearly acknowledge copyright ownership in any use you make of the material.
You can't make any money from the use of the material. This includes selling, reselling, redistributing or otherwise making the material available in any medium including the internet. You were granted a licence for the material for you, but we don't allow you to then licence it to or share it with others. If you'd like to do that, send us your proposal for consideration. We consider carefully all proposals.
All these rules apply not only to the entire course but also to every part of it. So, please don’t give away copies of individual documents or media files – this is illegal. We know this is getting a bit closer to the legalese we promised not to use, but our copyrights and other proprietary rights apply not only to the material, but to any derivation of it. In other words, if you make something using part of our course – and which is not for your own educational use - we will be forced to take legal action... so please don't do it.
The material on the site is provided "as is" and we make no guarantees about the quality, relevance, accessibility or completeness of the materials. We have worked to make what we feel are excellent materials... but we don't make any promises. So, if you run into a problem, please get in touch with us and we will help if we can.
Although we take great care of our site we are not liable for any links which we did not put there and which lead to content which does not belong to us. It is your responsibility to have adequate firewalls / virus-scanning programs in place at all times when our material is being used.
We are also not liable for any problems our material may cause. Legally, we cannot be held responsible for any use you make of the material. This is standard for any terms and conditions document. As before, if you run into a problem, please get in touch.
You will pay us any costs and damages we suffer if you do something you're not allowed to. This would include the costs of legal representation. We are a Scottish based company and therefore this agreement will be under Scots law and enforced in the Scottish courts.
Our site is hosted on or linked from our own dedicated server or from specialist video delivery services and we obviously do our best to keep the service up and running at all times. Streaming video and audio content is hosted externally for a better user experience. Although we cannot accept any liability for downtime which may occur on our own site, or the externally hosted media files, we will keep this downtime to an absolute minimum and aim to carry out routine maintenance on our site outwith periods of greatest use.
We will not share your details with any third party. However we would like the opportunity to tell you about our own products and services. If you would rather we did not contact you with information about our products and services please e-mail us.
That's the entire agreement, in a nutshell. If you have any questions about this agreement or any other facet of Radio Lingua™, please feel free to get in touch. We hope you find the materials of use and we look forward to creating more materials for you to enjoy and to inspire language learners around the world.
