Sophie is back with this episode which she recorded a few weeks ago in Paris. This week she looks at the expression se méfier de quelque chose, meaning “to be wary about something” and also faire gaffe, meaning “to watch out”. For the cultural section she’s in the Jardin des Plantes, the main botanical garden in Paris. There’s more info on Wikipedia about Le Jardin des Plantes.

Welcome back, Sophie! Even better than we remembered. Looking forward to the Valentine’s Day edition.

Fait gaffe! Won’t I sound “shrug” just right saying this in Paris. Can’t wait to try it out. Merci beaucoup.

Dites à Sophie que l’animal mignon soit probablement un “red panda” !

It is, indeed, a red panda. I saw them at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney for the first and only time. They really are adorable! Sophie, you should have you own show; you’re really quite an excellent teacher.

Your French accent is so good, I actually thought you were a native at first! These videos are very useful for my French studies 🙂
