Spanish WOTD Review – 8 March 2013

March 16, 2013 2 comments

Apologies for the delayed publication of this episode which is due to a technical problem we’ve had with the site over the past week.

We’ve been publishing a daily word on Facebook and Twitter and each day we’ve asked our Facebook friends and Twitter followers to post a comment using the word of the day, thereby practising their language skills. Last week our theme was eating out in restaurants and as usual the Radio Lingua community has come up with some excellent examples of this week’s words: la cuenta, la carta, el postre, pedir and reservar.

Spanish WOTD Review – 20 Feb 2013

February 22, 2013 1 comment

We’ve been publishing a daily word on Facebook and Twitter and each day we’ve asked our Facebook friends and Twitter followers to post a comment using the word of the day, thereby practising their language skills. Last week our theme was love, in honour of St Valentine’s Day, and as usual the Radio Lingua community has come up with some excellent examples of this week’s words: enamorarse, las flores, una cita, el amor and un beso.

Word of the day update

February 20, 2013 No comments yet

Our Word of the Day project continues. Every second week we publish one word a day on Facebook and Twitter for our communities of learners of Spanish and French, and we ask these communities to put their language skills into practice by using these words in a sentence. You can post a message on our Coffee Break French and Coffee Break Spanish Facebook posts, or tweet back to @learnspanish or @learnfrench.

We publish our words on weeks 1, 3, 5 and so on, so what happens in weeks 2, 4, 6…? This is when we use the responses of the community as learning material for everyone. We choose our favourite responses and discuss the successes – and the mistakes – of the community in our Word of the Day Review show. You can find these in the Coffee Break Spanish and Coffee Break French podcast feeds.

We’ve just interested a new element to the project: you can now send us voice messages with your use of our Word of the Day. All you need is a webcam or microphone connected to your computer and you can send us your message. Click on the Voicemail tab on the right of the Radio Lingua site, or use the link on the Facebook pages (French / Spanish). We’d love to hear from our listeners and involve you in the show!

We hope you enjoy this new ‘interactive’ element of our content.

Update: 2 March 2013

We’re delighted that the clever people at Speakpipe have now added the voicemail functionality to iOS devices, so if you’re viewing our website or Facebook pages on your iPhone or iPad you can now download the Speakpipe app and send your message to us!

Send us a voice message!

February 11, 2013 No comments yet

We’ve added a new feature to our website and Facebook pages: if you have a microphone or webcam connected to your computer, you can leave us a voice message easily by clicking on the “Send us a voice message” on the right hand side of the screen. Please note that for the time being this feature does not work on iOS, but we hope to include an iOS option soon.

If you’d like to send us a voice message to be included in the next Word of the Day Review episode, please also post your message on the CBS Facebook page or CBF Facebook page on the relevant entry to make sure it’s picked up by the team. If you’re sending a question for Q&A Spanish, please make sure you leave your name.

Please be aware that by sending your voice message we may use this in future shows. However, we do not guarantee to use all voice messages.

Here’s a video to explain more:

We’ve been publishing a daily word on Facebook and Twitter and each day we’ve asked our Facebook friends and Twitter followers to post a comment using the word of the day, thereby practising their language skills. Radio Lingua News – 24 Dec 2012

December 24, 2012 1 comment

This is a short message from Radio Lingua to update you on developments and to send all of our listeners our warmest wishes for the festive season.

cbg-master-1400First of all, we’ve been extremely busy assembling the various parts of the Coffee Break German course. Coffee Break German will be aimed at complete beginners in the language and, following the well-loved relaxed but structured Coffee Break style, we’ll be teaching German in weekly episodes, starting on 23rd January 2013. The whole Coffee Break German team are very excited about the launch and Mark is looking forward to picking up German along with the listeners!

We’re coming to the end of the first season of the Coffee Break Spanish Magazine. The Magazine features interviews with native speakers, tips on idiomatic Spanish and a question and answer section and it has gone down extremely well with our listeners. In particular the video interviews have received great reviews and we’ll be planning to add more video content to our language courses in the future. We’re working hard on more Magazine content – not just for Spanish – and we’ll announce more news about this in the new year.

If you’re interested in the premium version of the Magazine which gives you access to these videos – or indeed the premium version of any of our language courses, then you may be interested to know that we’re currently in the middle of our Winter Sale. It ends at one minute to midnight UK time on the 31st December – or Hogmanay as we call it in Scotland – so don’t miss out on getting a head start on your language learning in 2013. There’s more information about the sale at http://radiolingua.com/sale including the coupon code that you need to use to get your discount.

Finally, if you’re still trying to think up a last-minute gift for you friends or family members, you may be interested in our new gift memberships: you can buy a friend a membership to many of our courses. It’s really straightforward – simply purchase a gift membership and we’ll send you a printable gift certificate which contains all the details to allow your language-loving friend to have free access to the course materials. Find out more at http://radiolingua.com/gift/.

The audio version of this news broadcast is provided below along with download links. In addition to the information, Mark has also included a special rendition of one of his favourite pieces of festive music. He’s performed this himself on the piano, so we hope you enjoy it!

Radio Lingua delays

October 18, 2012 8 comments

A message from Radio Lingua CEO, Mark, regarding the current delays in our publishing schedule:

We are currently publishing our Coffee Break Spanish Magazine, the regular Word of the Day reviews and the articles from our On Location Bloggers. However, due to a sudden family bereavement we’ve had some delays. As most of you will know, Radio Lingua is a small, family-run business so the whole team is affected by something like this. We’re back at our desks this week and we hope to be publishing episode 3 of the Coffee Break Spanish Magazine by Friday 19th October and the Word of the Day reviews for this week’s words will be published early next week. Please accept our apologies for these delays and bear with us as we get back on track.

Mark and the Radio Lingua team.

Update, 19 Oct

We had some studio problems yesterday and unfortunately due to other commitments today and tomorrow (Fri 19th – Sat 20th) we’ll not be able to get back into the studio to finalise the Coffee Break Spanish Magazine until Monday 22nd. As soon as the Magazine is available we’ll publish it here and announce it on Twitter and Facebook. Apologies again for these delays.
