A tribute to Steve Jobs

steve-jobsIt is with great sadness this morning that we learn that Steve Jobs has passed away. We don’t usually make comments on the Radio Lingua site about such things, but we felt it was appropriate given that so much of what we do on a daily basis involves Apple products in some way.

Version 4.9 of iTunes was launched in June 2005 and introduced the ability to subscribe to podcasts. It was this new technology and the increasing number of iPods in the hands of learners which inspired us to create our first podcast language course, and in 2006 Coffee Break Spanish was launched on iTunes. Since then we’ve delivered our language lessons to learners’ iPods, iPhones and iPads around the world. Every element of every lesson we produce, from the audio recordings and video content to the graphics and managing the website, is done using Macs.

We’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the “visionary and creative genius” behind Apple. Thank you, Steve.

  1. I am new to your podcasts. I saw this tribute and want to thank you for acknowledging Steve Jobs. He changed the way the people of this planet interact. Everything is different because of him. At the same time we feel the loss of this towering visionary, we surely are grateful for having him for the time we did.

  2. Thanks Mark for this tribute. As language teachers and podcasters, we are all indebted to Apple and its innovations in the field of music, podcasting and computing…
    May he rest in peace
