We've explained in the information about News Time Spanish that the point of this show is to help listeners improve their listening skills and increase their range of vocabulary and expression, using topics and contexts which are interesting and relevant. José is reading the reports, just as a 'real' newsreader would do, but they're delivered at a slower pace than a news broadcast intended for native speakers. Crucially this podcast is not intended to be 'the next step' from Show Time Spanish in a similar style: this is one element of a range of new materials which we're working on which will be released over the next few months.

Is there any way that I could see the news text at the same time as listening ? It would greatly improve my ability to understand and learn the language.

Oh what a disappointment. I loved CBS and STS but this . . . Jose always feels as if he's reading - although I did love his intermedios and the phrases he came out with. It was a bit Jedward, to be honest, you know it shouldn't work but you still like it. Apart from improving listening skills - which I could do with an authentic Spanish news podcast - this so far has little use to a language learner.

Bring back Mark and Kara and Alba (OK, I know she's in Barca so that might be tricky) - and especially Verano Español!!!!

We're glad that you seem to be enjoying News Time Spanish.

@Jenna - as we've explained, News Time Spanish is one part of a range of new Spanish materials which we'll be introducing in the next few months. Some of these will include the in-depth language study you're used to.

Super! This type of content and natural-speed presentation should help me figure out the various full-length Spanish-language newscasts available to me via TV and Internet. The stories included lots of interesting idioms and turns of phrase, plus real-world vocabulary that makes for different challenges than we got from the 'Conversational Spanish' of CBS and STS. And the selection of stories included a good mix of politics, sports, multi-national, and general interest. Congratulations to Mark and Radio Lingua for another great job. And kudos to Jose Picardo and Chris Fuller for the excellent presentation and writing.

I miss the part where Mark would spend time teaching and explaining the material. And I just don't feel like I can get very excited about listening to news (especially news that is just read as though from a desk), although I'm sure it is a good way to learn vocabulary. I really want to like this podcast because I enjoyed CBS and STS so much and have been sad without new material to listen to, so I'll keep listening and hope you make some improvements in the coming weeks.
